One day while travelling on a train I looked at my dirty shoelaces and the line "dirt in my style and on my shoelace" came to my mind. I wrote it down immediately, as always struggling with my handwriting - the perfectionist in me couldn't accept its flaws and inconsistency and see it as part of my personality. It took me four years to fully grasp the meaning of this song and finally record it.
